Transforming engagement with immersive technology
OM Interactive has been featured in the Jan–Feb 2026 issue of SEN Magazine, exploring how immersive technology is supporting sensory engagement, wellbeing, and inclusive learning within special-school environments.
The article, Transforming engagement with immersive technology, looks at how interactive projection can create flexible, responsive learning experiences that encourage movement, communication, collaboration, and self-expression – particularly for pupils who find traditional approaches challenging.
Drawing on real-world practice, the feature highlights how immersive projection has become part of daily classroom life at Lakeside School, supporting pupils with a wide range of learning and communication needs. Teachers describe how these experiences help validate pupils’ presence, build confidence, and strengthen social interaction through shared sensory activities.
Rather than replacing existing practice, immersive technology is shown to complement teaching and therapeutic approaches, offering adaptable sessions that can support emotional regulation, focus, coordination, and group engagement.
We’re proud to see our work contributing to wider conversations around inclusive, sensory-informed practice in special education.
