During Dementia Action Week (19–25 May), the Dementia Care Team at Wexham Park Hospital proudly showcased their new Mobii, made possible thanks to funds raised by the Frimley Health Charity Dementia Appeal.
The Mobii is a portable sensory projection system loaded with interactive games that can be used by patients, family members, and staff to promote both physical and mental activity. It offers a versatile solution for engaging patients living with dementia through meaningful, stimulating activities.
Bryan Zhenhao Tan, WPH Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialist, shared his enthusiasm for the Mobii:
“I am very pleased having the OMi Mobii; it has made a big difference in how we provide activities. We can implement it in various ways—from group activities with friendly competition to personalised sessions for patients with specific preferences. Even staff and family members get involved, making it a great addition to our services.”
Amy Frewin, Dementia Activity Coordinator, regularly uses the Mobii across different wards, tailoring activities to patient preferences and group sizes. Patients who are unable to leave their beds can still benefit from the Mobii’s engaging projections, and group sessions foster social interaction and enjoyment. Amy notes:
“Since using the Mobii, the team and I have become much more visible. I’m often approached by patients and staff curious to participate, and referrals for activities have increased significantly.”
Feedback from patients, families, and staff has been overwhelmingly positive:

“I think it is lovely, I like the butterfly one. It made me happy. There are many to choose.”

“The machine is very interesting. I enjoy the football game and whack-a-mole. All the people come together and play the games and listen to music. We really enjoy it.”

“I find this interesting and different. Today’s gadgets are amazing. I do not understand the end goal but it makes me think about what to do.”
Following the success at Wexham Park Hospital, the Frimley Health Dementia Care Team looks forward to introducing the Mobii and its activities across other sites, including Frimley Park Hospital.
